About the Institute of Linguistics, Translation Studies and Hungarian Studies

The Institute of Linguistics was founded on October 1, 2013 on the initiative of Prof. Marek Stachowski. It is focused on extensive international cooperation, development of new philologies in the future, enrichment and extension of the didactic offer in the area of linguistics, as well as facilitation of contacts between researchers, MA and PhD students, and units with a similar profile worldwide. Such contacts are undoubtedly a stimulus for the exchange of scientific thought, and result in joint research ventures, including international projects.

On October 1, 2019, the Institute of Linguistics was renamed the Institute of Linguistics and Translation Studies. It includes three units:

Chair of General and Indo-European Linguistics

Chair for Translation Studies

Department of Hungarian Philology

The Institute’s staff hold courses for their home philologies, as well as for the entire Faculty, including PhD studies.

On November 1, 2020, the Institute of Linguistics and Translation Studies was renamed the Institute of Linguistics, Translation Studies and Hungarian Studies
